February, 2008

We sent an update on our projects to
everyone in Hurleyville.



April, 2008

Students from the Sullivan County BOCES
Votech Culinary Program
prepared the food for
the second annual Pasta Dinner
at the Hurleyville firehouse.

The Sullivan County Historical Society and
Hurleyville-Sullivan First
hosted an indoor garage sale
at the Sullivan County Museum.



May, 2008

The 3rd Annual
"Bowling for Flowers"
Bowl-a-Thon

We planted the barrels on Main Street
and worked in the Hurleyville Firemen's Park.



July, 2008

We placed our Sullivan Renaissance bench
in the memorial garden
behind the Hurleyville firehouse.

We unveiled the sign honoring
Congressional Medal of Honor recipient,
Francis S. Currey,
at a ceremony on Columbia Hill.

Material was delivered and the folks from
Evergreen Landscape Design began work
on the completion of
the Community Gateway Project.

The period street clock for the project arrived.

More material was delivered and
the first wall at the Community Gateway
began to take shape.

We held the third annual
"Books in the Park" fair
at the Hurleyville Firemen's Park.

Hurleyville-Sullivan First collaborated
with the Sullivan County Historical Society on its
2008 Sullivan Renaissance Category A Project.
The project included 2 new murals
hung on the boarded-up windows
on the ground floor of the museum.
The panels, depicting Sullivan County
history and seasons, were designed and painted by
local artists, Laurie Kilgore and Tobi Magnetico.



August, 2008

The first wall at the Community Gateway
was completed and work began on the second wall.

The folks from Evergreen Landscape Design
continued working on the second wall
at the Community Gateway.

Members of the Sullivan County Historical Society
and Hurleyville-Sullivan First
met with the Sullivan Renaissance judges
at the CVI building in Liberty.

The judges from Sullivan Renaissance visited
the project at the Sullivan County Museum.

The Sullivan County Historical Society,
in collaboration with Hurleyville-Sullivan First,
received the 2008 Historic Preservation Award
at the Sullivan Renaissance Awards Ceremony
at Bethel Woods.

The second wall at the Community Gateway
was completed and the
period street clock was installed.

Work began on replacing the stairs
and repairing the foundation
at the entrance to St. Mary's.



September, 2008

The foundation at the entrance to St. Mary's
was repaired and work continued
on replacing the stairs.

Hurleyville-Sullivan First and
the Sullivan County Historical Society
held an indoor yard sale
at the Sullivan County Museum.



October, 2008

Sandra Gerry and Glenn Pontier
from Sullivan Renaissance
visited our projects.
